Command Description
/nick newnamehere Changes your chat name
/me status or action Creates a status or action message. Don’t overuse this!

Chat Room Rules

In general, be polite, family-friendly, and don’t be disruptive. If you don’t follow these guidelines and the rules below, you can and will be muted, kicked or banned from the Bitwire Live chat.

  • Profanity of any kind (keep it PG, please)
  • Spamming or flooding (this includes overusing commands such as /me)
  • Flaming or trolling
  • Harassment and abuse
  • Any disruptive behavior
  • Evading a ban already in effect
  • This is an incomplete list. Banning, kicking and muting is at the moderators’ discretion.

Names, Nick Registration and Why is my name “Unidentified”?

To register your nickname, type a password upon entering the chat (if the name is available) or type /msg NickServ REGISTER password email

If your nick was automatically changed to Unidentified this means that you were using a name that was already registered. If you registered the name and entered the correct password upon entry, you should be fine…

  • If you registered it but didn’t enter the correct pass on login:
    • Change your name to something else: /nick newname
    • Sign into the name if you’ve registered it: /msg NickServ IDENTIFY [password]
  • If you did not register it:
    • Someone else has already claimed the nick, and you must choose another: /nicknewname

I got banned. What now?

If you are banned, you probably broke one of the rules! Most of the time (unless you were REALLY bad), bans only last a certain period of time, ranging from hours to weeks. Keep checking back to see if you can come back in, and make sure you follow all the rules (above) to make sure you stay in.
